The Story Behind the Story: A Perfect Weakness...

Hi! I’m Jennifer A. Davids, the author of A Prefect Weakness. I’m so happy to be here to share with you about how my newest book came to be written. Thank you so much for having me, Leslie!

I owe my start as a published author to Heartsong Presents, Barbour Books (and later Harlequin’s) popular book club line. I did three books for them: Yankee Heart, Wounded Heart, and, Restored Heart, which are currently available in one volume called Brides of Ohio. The genesis of A Perfect Weakness comes from my second Heartsong book, Wounded Heart. One of my secondary characters leaves at the close of the story under rather unfortunate circumstances, and I had always wondered what happened to him. At the time, the Heartsong line was still up and running through Harlequin, and I decided this character needed his own book. I began plotting out the story, and as time went on, it grew. And grew. And grew until it had taken on a life of its own and no longer fit the requirements of a Heartsong novel. Which was just as well since Harlequin decided to shut down the line. So, I cut out or changed any references – save a small one – to my Heartsong books and decided to see if I could get it published as a stand-alone novel, which Smitten, an imprint of Lighthouse Publishing of the Carolinas, graciously did.

Now, I mentioned that I cut out all but one reference to my Heartsong books, and I’m curious if anyone who has read both has caught where in A Perfect Weakness that little Easter egg is hidden. If you’ve read both books and you know where it is, mention it in the comments, and I’ll tell you if you’re right. And if you haven’t read A Perfect Weakness, how would you like to win a FREE ebook copy? Just fill out the Rafflecopter form below.

Blessings!

Back cover blurb...

The Civil War left its mark on Dr. John Turner. He turns his back on medicine and sees his unexpected inheritance in England as an opportunity to start over. But he never imagines how God intends to use his new role as lord of Ashford Hall or the beautiful woman he finds there to ease his troubled soul.

A tragic loss led Penelope Howard to bury her heart and dreams in her work for the Hall and the village of Woodley. But the arrival of new heir stirs not only her discarded longings but her compassion, as well. What burden does he carry that he can't accept that grace covers the darkest of sins?

A deadly epidemic sweeps through Woodley, revealing secrets which threaten everything. The doctor faces a choice: leave or dare to believe what the Lord whispers through the woman John has come to love.

No one is beyond redemption.
