Tuesday Tip: Hung or Hanged?

The verb to hang has two different past tense forms: hung and hanged. So, which one to use?

If you are referring to things such as juries, pictures, or Christmas stocking, they are hung.
For example: The unwelcome comment hung in the air.

However, if you're referring to people who are strung up with a rope, you would use hanged.
For instance:  They hanged Sam because he was a horse thief.
