Quinn Loftis has graciously offered to give away THREE (3) electronic copies of her latest release. You can enter by using the Rafflecopter link at the end of the post. (Giveaway ends February 9, 2018. If you are the randomly chosen winner, I'll contact you and pass on your information.)
The story behind the story...
The Viking's Chosen happened because I was approached by Clean Teen Publishing. They said they liked my writing style and saw a shortage of YA historical romances out there and thought I'd be a good fit to write one. They suggested Vikings since they are all the rage right now. It was a fun book to write.
Q&A with Quinn...
Q: What is something that your readers would be surprised to know about you?
A: I like scary movies, but I can't watch them by myself … or at night, LOL!
Q: What are some of the books in your TBR pile?
A: All the books in the Morganville Vampire series after book 7 and the Left Behind series (I've read it once, but that was 15 years ago.)
Q: Do you have any specific rituals for you when you work, such as music, a particular snack, or a specific pen?
A: I always pray before I start writing.
Q: What book do you wish you had written?
A: That's an easy one: Harry Potter, lol!
Q: What projects are you currently working on?
A: Book 2 in the Viking series, book 11 in the Gray Wolves series, and book 5 in the Gypsy Healer series
Q: Finally, what advice you have for new writers?
A: Don't go into this career expecting to get rich, because you will be sorely disappointed. Expect to be criticized. You can't make everyone happy, and that sucks. Strive to make every book better than the last. Read, read, read, and write, write, write.
Thanks so much for being here, Quinn. I can't wait to read those books you're working on :)
My review...
General Torben has heard the prophecy: He will take a
foreign bride. She will be a seer and healer like his mother.
Princess Allette is betrothed to King Cathal, and she
is anything but excited, as he is an evil, abusive man. However, she is
determined to do what she can to help her family and her country.
Unexpected events will bring Torben and Allette
together, and they will be asked to make sacrifices which could impact the
future of many.
This book is different than what I usually read.
However, I have read other books by Loftis, and that led me to give this book a
try … and I’m glad I did. Quinn is a master at crafting compelling and
intriguing stories. While her books are often geared toward the YA market, adults
will no doubt enjoy them, as well. The
Viking’s Chosen, an action-packed historical romance, is no exception. It
quickly engages the reader, and the characters, especially the heroine, are
relatable. The story is told in alternating POV’s, and the transitions flow
smoothly. Allette is feisty, intelligent, and strong. Torben is loyal,
protecting, trustworthy, and brave. You can’t help but root for good to win out
over evil. The ending may well leave the reader saying, “There better be a
sequel … soon!”
Some of my favorite quotes are:
- “Each of us must decide for ourselves what we want in this life. We have to choose to pursue our happiness, not just hope that what our mothers and fathers want for us will suddenly happen.
- “You are the master of your own life. There will be bumps and detours along the way, but at every turn, there will be a choice. Do not let yourself become a victim of your circumstances. You are too special for that fate.”
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy, but I wasn’t required to leave a positive
review.

DeleteI’m not sure if I’ve read other Viking books, if so, I can’t remember! Obviously I don’t have a favorite, lol. I do want to read this. I read quite a bit of YA fantasy, so YA historical should be a good fit as well.
ReplyDeleteLOL! That's understandable. I don't think I've read any others, either. If you enjoy the YA genre, I agree that this will be a good fit!
