A Word from Sandra...
Emergency Reunion
is the final story in a series, featuring members of the Steele family—an FBI
agent, a firefighter, and in this one, Sherri, a paramedic. Sherri was
introduced in Perilous Waters as the
paramedic cousin of Sam Steele, and her character was developed further in Identity Withheld when she treated the
heroine.
However, at the time of writing those stories, I hadn’t yet
decided what Sherri’s story would look like, although I’d established three
things about her:
- She has a close-knit extended family
-
she saved a baby last year
-
she is competent and emotionally-cool on the job
So when it came time to write her story, I decided to make
what should’ve been a wondrous accomplishment—saving a baby—a heartrending pressure
point in her backstory. That is, the point when she had to choose between
saving a baby and saving her partner from a fatal gunshot wound.
The rest of the suspense plot evolved from there, as I
picked the brain of a female EMT about all the potential scary situations
paramedics might, and do, face on a daily basis.
As for the romance, I decided to make the story a reunion romance, because of everything Sherri would face, and the unaffected front I wanted her to put on, I needed a hero who already knew her well and who had lots of good reasons to want to help her.

Sandra Orchard is an award-winning author of Christian romantic suspense. She writes for Harlequin's Love Inspired Suspense line and Revell Publishing. A member of ACFW, RWA, and The Word Guild (Canada), Sandra loves to encourage other writers in their journey. Although she'd always dreamed of being a writer, she majored in math at the university and didn't think she had enough imagination to write fiction. While homeschooling her children, she wrote curriculum and reviews and read … a lot. When her husband, frustrated by the growing book piles, suggested she write her own, little did he know what he'd started! She lives in Niagara, Canada with her real-life-hero husband of more than 25 years, and now writes full-time … when not doting on her grandchildren.

Love Inspired Suspense has quickly become some of my favorite books! I don't really have a "favorite" author, I love them all! Thank you, Sandra, for the chance to win a copy of "Emergency Reunion". I love past lovers reunion stories :)

I like any kind of suspense, it doesn't have to have romance just some good, whodunnit suspense :)
ReplyDeletedkstevensne AToutlookD OtCoM
I actually enjoy the suspense angle the most. That's the great thing with this book, and the Love Inspired Suspense line. They have just the right amount of romance.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, and good luck!
I love reading any Love Inspired Suspense books!

ReplyDeleteHeather, I do believe you would really enjoy this!
DeleteThanks for stopping by :-) Good luck!
Oy, I admire you Heather!
DeleteI can't even remember when I got hooked on Christian suspense. It was just a natural progression from all those hardcover Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books I read as a kid back in the late 90's. Anyway, mystery/suspense is now my favorite genre to read and I really enjoyed Sandra's Port Aster Secrets series, add to that I really like Love Inspired Suspense and this sounds like the perfect read. Thanks for hosting the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteJasmine,
DeleteThanks for stopping by! You will want to check back regularly, as I host a couple giveaways each month. I have another one going on now, in fact, in addition to this one. It's for an autographed book and Amazon gift card.
I enjoyed reading Nancy Drew, too, though I never read many of the Hardy Boys books. I agree that the Port Aster series is really good. Love Inspired Suspense puts out a number of great books (6, in fact) each month. I'm privileged to be able to read them.
Good luck!
Jasmine, so pleased to hear you enjoyed the Port Aster series!
DeleteCongratulations, Jasmine! You're the winner :) I hope you love the book as much as I do!
DeleteWow, it's so great to be away for a couple of days and see so many new and encouraging comments. Thanks so much, everyone!
ReplyDeleteI love reading Love Inspired Suspense. They always have a great story, lots of suspense and the writing is mesmerizing. I stared reading Nancy Drew books and later discovered Alfred Hitchcock. He could tell a suspenseful story with intense drama and edge of your seat endings. Thanks for the chance to read one of your amazing books.
ReplyDeleteDeana
Jhdwayne(at)peoplepc(dot)com
Deanna,
DeleteThey sure do! I enjoy the fact that many of them are a bit more suspense than romance. I grew up reading Nancy Drew, and you are correct about Alfred Hitchcock books :-)
Thanks for visiting my blog, and good luck! I do contests each month, so I hope you continue to stop by.
I really enjoy learning a bit of the 'story behind the story' -- it makes a book so much more interesting! Thanks for this post.

DeleteYou're very welcome :) I'm glad you enjoyed the "behind the story" portion. I try to do that with all the books I feature. I hope you continue to visit my blog to learn about the other books I review.
DeleteThanks for stopping by, and good luck!
I enjoy the Christian ones.
ReplyDeleteThen you're in luck! Most of the books I review and/or feature fall under that category. I hope you continue to stop by my blog. I post about a few books each month, and many include contests.
DeleteGood luck!
I haven't read many romantic suspense books and i liked them very much but i cant decide on a favorite.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog.
If you enjoyed the other romantic suspense books you read, I'm sure you'll love this one. Good luck!
